Day 4: Foundation: Step 3: Perfect Cool Customer
Step 3: Perfect Cool Customer
Many entrepreneurs say that they’re selling to “everyone”. And while that may seem like the best idea, it’s totally the opposite. In fact, selling to everyone is the best way to actually sell to no one.
While everyone is not your potential customer, there are the ones that are a perfect fit for you, your business and your offer.
When you understand exactly what problem they need solved, and what they want you to help them achieve… then you can craft your offer in a way that has them saying… “I want that!” And that means you will have more customer satisfaction and loyalty, which leads to greater success for your business.
Think about it… when a business’ messaging is really general and broad, it doesn’t give anyone the feeling that it’s speaking to them. That’s using the “try to please everyone” approach, and we doubt you can find one successful business that goes that route.
In fact, failing to identify your perfect customer means you end up wasting time and resources creating products and services that your customers don’t want. And how do you think that works for getting sales? Exactly… it results in poor sales and limits your business’ potential for growth and success.
While it’s important to know a lot about who your perfect customer would be… it’s more important to understand this:
- What it is they want relief from (in other words, what problem do they want solved)… and what happens if they let their fears hold them back.
- The specific things they want to achieve and what they see in their future when they “think big”.
- How to specifically define the solution you’re going to offer them.
- What your solution makes better for them and the crappy things it reduces in their lives.
- How to use your customers’ desires and frustrations to choose a niche that fits you and serves your customer.
Understanding who your Perfect Cool Customer is will help you develop products and services that meet their needs and preferences, and create effective marketing and sales strategies to reach them.
There’s a simple process to follow to get there, and when that happens, you'll be able to attract and retain loyal customers who are eager to buy what you're offering.
