Start with great content and then reuse, repurpose and repackage it for greater leverage and increased market reach. This is something that is known to work exceptionally well in the information marketing world.
Now it's been discovered that it has been working very well in cartoons too. Cartoons? Yes, cartoons. Disney has successfully been using this concept for years, yet very few people realize it.
It's motivating to see a successful, mega giant like Disney successfully implementing this concept. It makes it so clear that repurposing works. Why start from scratch on every new project when reusing, rerpuposing and repackaging existing content can be done quicker, easier and with a lot less effort?
Don't believe us? Take a look at the video below to see how Disney has successfully reused, repurposed and repackaged its cartoon content.

We find that making use of content already created, in a way that inspires and is still relevant, makes it easier to be able to reach more people yet still provide them with information of value. We would love to know how you've reused previous content to spread your message.

I had now idea that Pat could dance! He was the Bear wasn't he? I suppose I am doing the same thing, reusing, re-purposing, certainly repackaging an very old life. I love coming here because you two have unique and distinctive content. Thanks a bunch.

Nelson,
Oh… Pat can definitely dance. You should see him. We wouldn't call it an "old life"… it is one filled with wonderful adventures and cherished memories. Definitely something worth re-purposing and repackaging for all of us to be a part of.
Thank you so much!

That is truly amazing and totally delightful! I can't believe I've been watching Disney films for 50 years and never noticed that before!
My kids have discovered the concept, though. All of them went through a stage in their teens when they took still clips from the various Final Fantasy (game) movies and made their own music videos of their favourite songs. Even though we saw some of the same clips repeatedly throughout their videos, it still had a fresh effect for each song.
Thank you for the fresh approach to the concept of repurposing and rewriting content for different audiences. This is one lesson I won't soon forget, and I'll be able to put into practice right away.

Willena,
It's amazing how some things are right in front of us, yet we don't notice them. We're pretty sure it has to do with the fact that the cartoons were so fun and entertaining we didn't focus on the actual "dance moves" of the characters.
That can apply to our businesses too. Making the information we give our customers helpful, educational and perhaps even entertaining is what's really important.
Thanks,
~ Pat and Lorna

Beth,
It is a great video… and it makes it so clear how we can take one piece of great information and re-use it to create more useful products to help others.
We first got introduced to this video from one of our online friends. We just love how we get introduced to valuable info out of the blue through the amazing relationships we have built online (just like the ones through TSA).
Thanks!

Hi Pat & Lorna,
Happy New Year!
I have been using this method for quite some time. It works great and as long as your not using some garbage software to do the work, then you should be good to go.
Disney is the master at this.
BTW- I love watching the Jimmy Kimmel video, always a chuckle. Lol.
Have a great day,

Tommy,
So right… as long as you're providing great value to your clients and prospects, re-purposing and re-using great information for different products is perfect in your online business. If it's good enough for Disney, it should work great for us too.
We still laugh at the Jimmy Kimmel video too. It's pretty funny
Thanks,

Hey there my cool friends;
Yet another awesome post with an excellent example of what works. So many times we get online and get trapped into thinking inside the box of the internet. Your example of Disney is so true and a very good one to model after as you've pointed out. Some of their best new products have been their old products.
Thanks again for sharing Pat and Lorna; keep up the great work

Hi Pat and Lorna,
There is so much content online these days that it can be a challenge for people to be totally unique. The ones who can write and speak in their own voice are the ones who become very successful. For everyone else, repackaging, reusing and repurposing content is the way to go!
When I write, I usually write first about what's in my mind and what I know already. I finish my first draft, then go research other books/courses to see what I've missed.
I find that if I research first then I cloud my writing with what other people have written.
Hope you are both well!

Thats pretty compelling evidence. I wonder if they are paying homage to past films or recognize a success formula and are repeating it. People do both with Hitchcock all the time. Really enjoyed this post. So cheerful.

Hi Pat & Lorna,
Well if Disney can do it, then I can certainly do it! I have been looking at re-packaging some of my content. I have a lot of original valuable content on my blog that should be shared across the internet and thanks to your reminder here, I am going to set about doing just that.
of course, this only works if it is truly valuable and not just re-regurgitated garbage I read every day. Sometimes I am amazed at what gets published on respected blogging sites!
You provide outstanding value to your readers and everyone deserves to read it and learn from the Cool Couple!

Clare,
Re-packaging is a great way to go… helping more people get access to valuable content, while saving time and effort for the author. And you are so right… if it isn't quality content then it's more like regurgitation than repurposing.
Thanks so much!

Excellent website – great info !! Very helpful and interesting.
Never ever did I notice the "Disney-recycle-thing" – well isn't it the best new thing anyways.
It is almost eco-friendly – thanks for the contribution on this issue.

Hi Pat and Lorna,
Wow! That was so interesting and fun to watch. Of course I'm in the generation that "grew up" with Disney, and as I watched the video, I never put it together, but it's almost as if I subconsciously knew that they were up to something! It's brilliant and to be able to do it without most people noticing the obvious amazes me.
The idea of reuse, repurpose, and repackage is a great concept which I’ve used unintentionally without knowing I was doing it! So once something is beautifully created, why go back and either mess it up or ignore it forever? This is a great concept to keep in mind for blogging. I really appreciated your video, and yes I recognized every Disney movie presented. I know that sounds strange, but I’ll bet there are many kids out there who haven’t seen all of the Disney classics. Watching anything Disney always reminds me how fortunate I am to have grown up in an awesome generation. Only the baby boomers will get that one!
Here’s an example of reuse, repurpose, and repackage. I’m new to TSA, and I’ve just met Pat and Lorna last week. I visited their YouTube channel and came across Jimmy Kimmel Twitter War With Pat and Lorna. This “war” was 9 months ago, but it is new to me and so fun, why not launch it again! Jimmy talks about the ongoing Twitter battle with the supposed coolest couple online, Pat and Lorna. It definitely hit my funny bone! There is a video post on "The Coolest Couple" blog, or you can go to YouTube, and type in Pat and Lorna (The Coolest Couple) Update with Jimmy Kimmel. A comment from the video which I thought was great is, “The funniest thing is Jimmy saying, "Whenever I mention them they seem to get more followers" – That's the power of a Tribe!” As of today, March, 16, 2011, Jimmy Kimmel has 73,886 followers and Pat and Lorna have 78,000 (give or take a few). Pat and Lorna wins…haha
Okay so it’s 9 months later and things have changed, but it’s all new to the people who didn’t see it, read it, or view it the first time!
