Well, that is certainly food for thought!

I’m no expert by a long shot. NO ONE in my family, including my grown daughters who have left home, owns a cell phone, iPod or any other items mentioned in the video… except computers and laptops. In contrast, we are all quite proficient at using the computer. My youngest son, now 11, was playing games with his grownup brother over our home network when he was barely 3 years old!

That said, I realize my family is a little unusual, and I believe this video is spot on. Like it or not, digital communication is here to stay, and with it, a LOT of informal learning. Why not utilize that in the schools so that kids might actually enjoy learning?

      Willena,

It is true that most people do now own cell phones, iPods, etc. However, it is also true that some people would rather not be continually “connected”.
We do agree. It would be brilliant if the education system would go with the flow… it may inspire some kids to take notice and learn more.

      Thanks,

there is no more exciting time to be alive than right now… to have so much information at our fingertips and an infrastructure that lets us connect and communicate across the world in an instant. so many businesses will not survive this age if they aren’t willing to adapt to the digitally-inclined client!

      Melissa,

That is one of the coolest parts of doing business online… being able to connect with people in different parts of the world. The beauty of this is that even a “small” niche may have a huge market if you look at it globally.

      Thanks!

    Hello Pat & Lorna:

I don’t live with my head in the sand but a lot of this message is very thought provoking. Some of the numbers are very surprising.

If we aren’t comfortable with digital media, we had better become so! I personally love technology but am very cautious with personal and confidential information. The digital world is fast paced and everything is available ~ sometimes whether or not we want it to be!

Thank you for all the great information!

    Deborah

      Deborah,

Thanks so much for stopping by and saying hi.
We do agree, technology allows us to connect with so many people and have access vast amounts of information… and yet we do need to be aware of how we are interacting on the web.

      Thanks!

    Hi Pat and Lorna,

this video is a great description of how people use the internet these day.
Using this new technology does make a lot of sense.

You made a great point about communicating with people in a way that is familiar to them.

      Yorinda,

Yes, more and more people are feeling a lot more comfortable with technology and how it allows us to be connected and access information. It does make a lot of sense to go with the flow in our business… it will help to connect with more people in our niche.

      Thanks!

Times are definitely changing. I came to the US 20 years ago and remember being frustrated because it was so hard to follow what was happening in Europe (that is where I came from) and the only way to talk to family and friends was by phone (land line of course). So much has changed in those 20 years. Not only can we follow what is going on in the world in as much detail as you like, we can also communicate with those anywhere in the world.
It certainly has changed how we maintain and build relationships. Although I do believe that with the rise of social media we are getting back more and more to the “old ways”.

      Karin,

Things have changed and are still changing very quickly. And it does seem like people are still looking for “personal” interaction as well as the wonderful technology that connects us “virtually”.

      Thanks,

Hi Pat and Lorna! Glad to be back here.

Digital learning is so powerful to reach out to people that you would never have access to in person. Also it allows people to get to know you anonymously to get comfortable with you first.

Thank you for sharing the video. You two are masters with digital learning. I remember when I took Alex Mandossian’s Teleseminar Secrets 2 years ago, the presentations you’ve done for him.

    To Your Genius,
    Eiji

      Eiji,

Digitally, it is so much easier to reach more people… and it makes it more comfortable for those who use that technology in their daily lives to connect with the information a lot easier.

Thanks for the kind words, and for stopping by,
      ~ Pat and Lorna

Pat & Lorna, I just read your ezine article about the WP plugin “Bookmark Me” which is supposed to put the words “Spread the Word” at the end of a blog post.
    1) I don’t see it here on your blog post,
    2) but more importantly to me, I added the plugin to my blog and do not see it there either.
    Any suggestions?
